PUNE: On the background of lockdown, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has taken one step forward and decided to start ward wise vegetable outlets so that residents can get vegetables easily. The step will also help to reduce the crowd.
PMC has prepared a list of vegetable vendors who will provide vegetables to different parts of the city. PMC commissioner Shekhar Gaikwad has taken the initiative and approached Agricultural Produce
Marketing Committee (APMC) and handed over the list of the vendors for approval.
“Amid the lockdown, we have decided to make vegetables available to people at a reasonable rate so that they cannot face any problem. We spoke to different vegetable vendors regarding the supply of the vegetables in different parts of the city. They have shown a positive response. Based on that, we prepared the list along with the name of the area and phone numbers of respected vendors which will publish on Thursday after approval from APMC”, said Gaikwad.
Most of the vendors are the part of the weekly markets which were providing vegetables at a reasonable price to people in PMC designated places. PMC has prepared a list of 58 vendors along with phone numbers which will provide vegetables in 15 ward office areas.
