Pune, 16 January 2026: Counting of votes for the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections is currently in progress, and early trends suggest that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to emerge as the single largest party. The BJP appears to be heading towards a comfortable position, leading in more than 30 seats across the city.
The PMC elections were held for 162 seats spread across 41 wards. A party or alliance needs at least 82 seats to form the civic body’s governing council. This election saw a direct contest mainly between the BJP and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), making the results politically significant.
