Pune Crime: Nigerian Man Killed in Love Dispute in Pisoli, Three Detained

Fight over a relationship turns fatal as police launch a manhunt for remaining suspects

Pune, 13 January 2026: A Nigerian national was murdered following a violent fight over a love dispute in Pisoli area early Monday morning. The incident took place at Balaji Padmavat Nagar and has led to the detention of three suspects by the Kalepadal Police.

The deceased has been identified as Yemeka Christian (40), a resident of Fursungi and a native of Nigeria. Police said the clash broke out at the home of a Nigerian woman, Nkenia Patricia Mbiga, where a group had gathered for dinner. An argument over a romantic relationship soon escalated into a physical attack.

According to police, Yemeka was assaulted by a group of Nigerian men, including Nayemeka Madubuchi Onio, Obi, and Oje Ojegwa. He suffered serious injuries and was rushed by his friend to a private hospital in Wanowrie, where he later died during treatment.

Senior Police Inspector Mansingh Patil said that a murder case has been registered and immediate action was taken after the incident was reported. Police teams searched the Camp and Pisoli areas and detained three suspects, Onio, Obi, and Ojegwa, while efforts are on to trace the remaining accused.

The police are continuing their investigation to establish the full sequence of events and the exact motive behind the deadly assault.
