The incident took place around 6 pm near the Golbal Club Chowk, Nagpur Chawl–bound bus stop. Constable Ranavare was passing through the area when he noticed a man lying on the ground and a crowd gathered around him. Despite the number of onlookers, no one stepped forward to help.

Ranavare immediately stopped his vehicle and checked the person, who was later identified as Sandeep Sawant, a 47-year-old resident of Lohegaon. Realising that Sawant was experiencing a severe heart attack, the constable began performing CPR on the spot. His timely intervention helped stabilise Sawant until he could be shifted to a hospital.

With the help of a local resident’s four-wheeler, Ranavare rushed Sawant to Shah Hospital at Gunjan Chowk for initial treatment. He also contacted Sawant’s wife and informed her about the emergency. Later, Sawant was shifted to DY Patil Hospital for further care.

Doctors confirmed that Sawant survived because of the quick CPR and immediate medical attention. The bravery and presence of mind shown by Constable Ranavare have been widely praised within the police force and the community.
