Pune, June 7: Pune Crime Branch police conducted a pre-dawn raid on an alleged rave party in the Tulapur area on Sunday, detaining more than 150 young men and women found partying under the influence of alcohol. Police also seized liquor, banned hookah flavours and a small quantity of cannabis worth a combined estimated value of ₹85 lakh.
Acting on a tip-off about an unauthorised party being held in Tulapur, police formed a special team comprising 15 officers and 65 personnel. The team raided the venue at around 2:30 am, where 107 men and 49 women were present. Three attendees were found to be below the legal drinking age of 21.
During the investigation, police found that the liquor licence obtained for the event was valid only until 11:30 pm on June 6. However, the party allegedly continued beyond the permitted hours. Authorities also found violations related to sound system permissions and other mandatory approvals.
Police seized around three grams of cannabis, 10 banned hookah flavours stored in three hookah pots, and a liquor stock valued at approximately ₹9.22 lakh from the venue.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Gauhar Hasan, the event, titled "Project X", was organised by Aiman Sheikh of Blaze Entertainment and Yash Chaudhary of Star Light Entertainment. Police have initiated the process of registering multiple offences against the organisers and others involved. Further investigation is being carried out by Lonikand Police Station.
Residents in the area had reportedly expressed concern over the loud music and activities that continued late into the night. Police said the action serves as a warning against the organisation of illegal parties in the region.
