Pune, 10 January 2026: Many citizens saw emotional and joyful moments as Pune Police returned stolen mobile phones, vehicles and other valuables worth nearly ₹4 crore to their rightful owners. For several people, it was the end of a long wait after losing their property in thefts and crimes.
The distribution was organised at Symbiosis College in Viman Nagar as part of Maharashtra Police Raising Day 2026 and the ‘Road Safety Campaign 2026’. Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar handed over the recovered property from 104 criminal cases across seven police divisions in the city.
The recovered items included mobile phones, jewellery, vehicles and other valuable belongings. Among all divisions, Police Division One returned the highest value of property, worth more than ₹1.86 crore. Other divisions also returned goods worth several lakhs to affected citizens.
In addition, 184 stolen mobile phones recovered through the CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) portal were handed back to their owners. These phones were valued at nearly ₹26 lakh. Many recipients became emotional after getting their phones back and thanked the Pune Police for their efforts.
Senior police officials including Joint Commissioner Ranjankumar Sharma, Additional Commissioners Manoj Patil and Pankaj Deshmukh, and Deputy Commissioners Nikhil Pingale, Somay Munde and Himmat Jadhav were present at the event.
Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said the police force remains committed to helping victims recover their lost property and to strengthening public trust through such initiatives.
