Pune: The Prime Minister Office (PMO) confirmed on Thursday (November 26) that PM Narendra Modi will be visiting the Serum Institute of India (SII) in Hadapsar area on Saturday (November 28).
The Serum Institute has partnered with Oxford University and AstraZeneca company to produce the COVID-19 vaccine.
Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine candidate is presently under Phase III human trials and has proven to be 70 per cent effective in the phase II trials. The enrollment of candidates for the phase III trials has been recently completed and now the results and conclusion of the phase III trials are awaited.
PM Modi is likely to review the progress of vaccine production by Serum Institute. After the PM Modi's visit, about 100 Delhi-based foreign envoys will be visiting the Serum Institute on December 4.
Protocol Officer Amrut Natekar confirmed that PM Modi will be visiting the Serum Institute on Saturday. The district administration has started all preparations for this crucial.
