Pune stn gets 12 wheelchairs, luggage trolleys

ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: The Pune junction has received 12 new modern wheelchair and luggage trolleys by a Belgaum-based company under their Corporate Social Responsibility scheme.

All these wheelchairs and trolleys have contemporary designs and will fulfil the requirement of wheelchairs and trolleys at the platform.

Pune Divisional Railway Manager Milind Deouskar received the wheelchairs and trolleys from the Gogate Foundation.

Gogate Foundation Chairman Arvind Gogate handed over the things during a small function at the junction.

Deouskar said, “Specially-abled, old-aged, patients and other passengers will get better facilities like newer wheelchairs and trolleys. Under the scheme of Corporate Social Responsibility, many companies are coming out to improve facilities and are doing remarkable work.”

Deoskar also thanked Gogate Foundation for its contribution.

“Under the CSR, several companies are contributing to different stations in the division. There are several requirements for facilities at the stations for which companies should come forward and begin initiatives,” he said.

“The facilities include elevators, escalators, light fittings, solar power generation, water harvesting, toilet complex, sanitary work, water recycling, etc. There is a lot of work that needs to be expanded,” he added.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Krishnath Patil and other railway staffers were present during the event.
