Pune, 5th July 2025: Today, in a proactive move to understand and address persistent urban issues, Pune Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Naval Kishore Ram, accompanied by District Collector Jitendra Dudi, conducted an early morning inspection of the city.
The review began as early as 6 AM and included a detailed tour of critical areas from Camp to Deccan, covering Pune Station, Kasba Peth, Shaniwar Wada, University Chowk, Aundh, Baner, Balewadi, and Pashan.
The inspection team comprised senior officials from various departments of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). Their focus was on identifying key concerns such as garbage accumulation on roads and footpaths, illegal hoardings and banners, waterlogging spots during monsoon, road debris, and unnecessary electricity poles. The presence of unused drainage and water supply pipelines also drew attention, along with the need to prevent citizens from dumping waste on roads.
Commissioner Ram emphasized the need for a clean and well-managed city and issued on-the-spot instructions to relevant department heads. He stressed that improving road conditions and ensuring proper public hygiene must be prioritized, especially during the ongoing monsoon season.
He also stated that such inspections would continue regularly and not be one-off visits. To ensure effective implementation, the PMC plans to hold internal review meetings and engage both civic bodies and citizens in maintaining city cleanliness and infrastructure. The initiative is expected to strengthen coordination among municipal departments and ensure timely response to complaints.
Present during the inspection were all concerned department heads, deputy commissioners, and officials responsible for sanitation, roads, encroachments, water supply, and public infrastructure. The move marks a step toward more responsive and visible governance in Pune’s civic administration.
