Pune, April 13: On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the Pune Traffic Police have announced temporary changes in traffic arrangements across key parts of the city on Tuesday (April 14). Large gatherings and processions are expected for tribute events, prompting authorities to implement diversions to manage congestion and ensure public safety.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Himmat Jadhav, traffic in areas including the Collector Office, Aurora Tower, Vishrantwadi, and Dandekar Bridge will be rerouted through alternative roads.
In the Collector Office area, diversions will be in place from 6:00 AM until the dispersal of crowds. Vehicles heading towards Maldhakka from Shahir Amar Sheikh Chowk will be redirected via RTO and Jahangir Chowk, while other routes such as GPO Chowk and Pune Station Chowk will also see diversions. Emergency access to Sassoon Hospital will remain open via a designated entry point.
Parking Advisory: Citizens are advised to use designated parking facilities at SSPMS Ground and Tukaram Shinde Parking Lot.
In the Aurora Tower area, traffic changes will also begin at 6:00 AM. Vehicles moving along Dr. Coyaji Road towards Pandit Nehru Chowk will be diverted via alternative routes. Restrictions apply to traffic approaching Aurora Tower from ISKCON Temple and Naz Chowk.
Parking Advisory: A no-parking zone has been announced across key stretches. Motorists are encouraged to use designated pay-and-park facilities on Tarapore Road and East Street.
In Vishrantwadi, diversions will come into effect from 3:00 PM. Vehicles travelling towards Alandi and Bhosari will be rerouted via Chandrama Chowk and Holkar Bridge. Restrictions will also be imposed on heavy vehicles from Dighi and Alandi beyond Dighi Magazine Chowk, while access from Airport Road towards Vishrantwadi will be limited.
Traffic changes on Sinhagad Road will be implemented from 4:00 PM. Vehicles heading from Swargate towards Sinhagad Road will be diverted via Swatantryaveer Savarkar Chowk, Sanas Ground, and Senadatta Police Chowki. Traffic moving in the opposite direction will be rerouted via Asha Hotel Chowk.
Additionally, motorists travelling along Bajirao Road towards Shivajinagar are advised to follow an alternate route via Puram Chowk, Lokmanya Tilak Road, Alka Talkies Chowk, and Khandojibaba Chowk. Those commuting from Lal Mahal Chowk towards Ganesh Road should take the route via Kamala Nehru Hospital and Laxmi Road.
The traffic police have urged citizens to cooperate with authorities, follow designated routes, and plan their travel in advance to avoid inconvenience.
