Authorities expect heavy congestion on key routes including Laxmi Road, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road, Bajirao Road, Kumthekar Road and Kelkar Road. Traffic movement in the Lashkar traffic division areas such as MG Road and East Street may also be affected during the processions.

Police said vehicles travelling from Jijamata Chowk toward Swargate via Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road will be diverted from S. Go. Barve Chowk through Jungli Maharaj Road, Khandoji Baba Chowk, Lokmanya Tilak Chowk and Tilak Road as an alternative route.

Similarly, traffic coming from Ganesh Road and the Daruwala Bridge area will be redirected at Daruwala Bridge Chowk to prevent congestion near the procession route.

When processions move along Laxmi Road, vehicles near Sonya Maruti Chowk will be diverted via Sant Kabir Chowk. Vehicles heading toward Shivajinagar through Bajirao Road will instead be routed from Puram Chowk through Tilak Road, Alka Talkies Chowk and Fergusson Road.

Traffic from Appa Balwant Chowk heading toward Budhwar Chowk will be diverted through Kelkar Road once the processions begin. Meanwhile, vehicles near Gadgil Statue will be allowed to move through Savarkar Bhavan Bridge and Balgandharva Chowk until the processions pass.

Traffic near Shaniwar Wada will also be diverted toward the Pune Municipal Corporation building via Cosmos Bank Junction, Savarkar Bhavan Bridge and Tilak Bridge.

The police added that traffic movement in the Lashkar division areas including MG Road, East Street, Golibar Maidan, Mahavir Chowk, Babajan Chowk and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Market area may also be modified depending on crowd movement.

“Traffic diversions will be implemented on several routes in the central city from 7 am onwards due to Shiv Jayanti processions, and motorists are advised to use alternative routes to avoid congestion,” the traffic police said.
