PUNE: The trend of reduced voters turnout in Maharashtra this year compared to the 2014 Assembly elections was reflected in Pune too. Voting percentage of Pune district reduced from 61.72 per cent in 2014 Assembly elections to 57.69 per cent this year.

In the State, the final voter turnout stood at 60.46 per cent, 3 per cent lower than the figures of 63.13 per cent of 2014. The turnout in Pune city was reduced by 7.77 per cent while that in Pune rural area was reduced by 3.84 per cent when compared to 2014. 

According to officials of district administration, barring Pimpri constituency, voter turnout in other constituencies of Pune city and Pimpri Chinchwad witnessed a reduced turnout compared to 2014 Assembly elections. 

The officials said maximum voter turnout was reported in Indapur constituency which was 75.92 per cent, while the lowest was reported in Pune Cantonment at 43.28 per cent. In Pimpri constituency, the turnout increased from 46.23 per cent to 50.17 per cent.

Officials said that in Kasba Peth, voter turnout reduced by 10 per cent. Of the total 77.29 lakh voters, 44.59 lakh cast their votes. Officials said the voting percentage was 55.02 per cent for females, 60.13 per cent for males and 12.3 per cent for transgenders.
