Punekars condemn terror attack

PUNE: Public outrage spilled out on the streets in several parts of the city on Friday against the Pulwama terrorist strike which has claimed the lives of 40 CRPF personnel, two of them belonging to the State.

Condolence meetings and protests were organised at Alka Chowk; Goodluck Chowk on FC Road; Babajan Dargah Chowk in Camp, Market Yard in the city as well as in Lonavla among other places. People took out processions raising slogans against the terrorist strike. 

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) cancelled all cultural and entertainment programmes on Friday, which were organised on the occasion of Foundation Day of the PMC. 

Mayor Mukta Tilak issued a press note in which she declared cancellation of all scheduled programmes on Friday. 

Meanwhile, the Muslim community strongly condemned the terrorist attack and paid homage to the martyrs after Friday prayers at Noor-e-Hira Masjid in Market Yard.

Maulana Farooq  said, “In the Holy Quran, it is written that if you kill any person, then Islam cannot be righteous. It is an attack on the country’s democracy.”
