Pune, 8th June 2026: The land acquisition process for the proposed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje International Airport in Purandar has made significant progress, with farmers submitting consent affidavits for 1,837 acres of land so far. This accounts for more than 60 percent of the nearly 3,000 acres required for the project.
The acquisition process began on May 7, and within a month, farmers have provided consent for a substantial portion of the land. District Collector Jitendra Dudi said the administration has already secured more than half of the required land, marking an important milestone for the airport project.
A total of 1,216 hectares (around 3,000 acres) across seven villages in Purandar taluka is being acquired for the airport. Earlier land surveys had received support from nearly 96 percent of farmers. The Maharashtra government has fixed compensation at ₹1.61 crore per acre.
To fund the acquisition, approximately ₹6,000 crore will be required. The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has raised funds through a loan from HUDCO, and the first tranche of ₹500 crore has already been transferred to the district administration.
Officials said more than ₹900 crore in compensation has been distributed to farmers since the acquisition process began. As the compensation amount is being deposited directly into farmers’ bank accounts, the response from landowners has continued to improve.
The district administration is also helping resolve compensation-related disputes through mediation. Officials believe that settling such cases through mutual agreement instead of lengthy court proceedings will allow affected farmers to receive their compensation more quickly.
Among the seven villages involved, the largest number of farmers have submitted consent from Pargaon, followed by Ekhatpur, Vanpuri, Khanwadi, Kumbharvalan, Munjawadi and Udachiwadi. The administration expects additional consent submissions before the deadline expires in the coming days.
