Rains Spoil Final Day Of Campaign

PUNE: Heavy rain spoiled road shows and election campaigns on the concluding day of the election campaign on Saturday. 

Major political parties i.e. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidates had to cut short their campaign programmes.

BJP candidate of Kothrud constituency Chandrakant Patil conducted a road show in Bhelkenagar in Kothrud area. He covered Karve Road and Paud Road during his road show. 

NCP senior leader Ajit Pawar’s road show was cancelled due to rain. 

NCP Member of Parliament (MP) Amol Kolhe conducted a road show in Dhankawadi but he covered a very short distance due to the rain. 

In Pune city, there are eight constituencies and there are 106 candidates in the fray.
 
BJP, Congress, NCP, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), Vanchit Bahujan Agadi and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) are some of the prominent parties whose candidates ended election campaign in the evening as per Election Commision of India’s guidelines.
  
There was no major rally conducted on the last day of the campaign. 

Senior Congress leader Anand Sharma was in the city and he conducted a press conference and criticised BJP. 

All candidates conducted small rallies and concluded their campaigns in the city.

BJP candidate of Parvati constituency and city president Madhuri Misal conducted a rally.
 
Most of the candidates gave preference to meet people due to rain. The candidates could not plan a big event to conclude their campaigns. 

Rain played a major role in spoiling the overall election campaign in the city. 

Many of the campaign days were ruined by rains and some rallies were cancelled. 

Candidates had to revise election campaign programmes. 

Due to rains, limited road shows were conducted by political parties. 

Maximum road shows were conducted by the BJP and Congress.
