Raj Thackeray pays tribute to Vajpayee by drawing caricature

ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Chief Raj Thackeray paid tribute to former prime minister and senior leader of BJP, Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee by making his caricature while inaugurating ‘Pune Art Pune Heart’ painting exhibition in Balgandharva Rangmandir on Thursday.

At the inauguration, Thackeray said, “Young artists don’t get a chance to organise exhibitions in art galleries. They have to take help from well-known artists to win a chance to display their painting along with them. Even a well-known artist like MF Hussain started his career at the age of 60 years. His painting was showcased along with famous artist Picasso in one of the exhibitions in Europe. When people enquired about the name of the painter, Hussain became famous. It proved to be a turning point in his life.”

The painting exhibition is organised by Yuva Spandan and Vishwakarma Institute. Narendra Vichare, Professor, JJ School of Art, Meghraj Bhosale, president, Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal and Anil Shidore, MNS leader were present at the inaugural function.
