Pune: Without naming anyone, Md Haroon Rashid, Deputy Chairman of Bihar Legislative Council, said that youths should not follow any regionalism and casteism, which is emerging nowadays.

Md Haroon Rashid was in Pune to attend an event organised by MIT - the 8th Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad - which started on Friday. He was the chairman of the first session named ‘Indian Democracy in Black & White’. He spoke with Sakal Times on various issues like regionalism, casteism and development.

On the first day of year 2018, the cast tension began following the riots at Koregaon Bhima, near Pune.

“There are too many talks about regionalism and casteism, which must be avoided to save the country from the hate situations. India has 65 per cent youths, and they are the future.

They have to ‘study and go ahead’. The respect what we want from others, we have to give also,” he said. 

Every year, thousands of youths come from Bihar to Pune and other parts of Maharashtra for studies and jobs. 

When asked about the the education system and jobs in Bihar, he said that Bihar has been deceived. “The requirement of engineering and medical colleges was not fulfilled. When Nitish Kumar came into power, he started development of Bihar. He decided that every district will have engineering colleges, each division will have polytechnic colleges, and now this is happening. However, it will take time to develop. The government is already focused on it,” he said.

Md Haroon Rashid agreed that, in 20 months, the growth of Bihar was stopped, due to the joint government with RJD.
“During the 20 months of alliance with RJD, the progress of development projects had slowed down. However, after coming back into the alliance with NDA, these projects have gathered the pace.”
