Religious institute teacher arrested for corporal punishment in Alandi

PUNE: A 11-year-old boy who had come to Alandi from Maval to study at a religious institute suffered multiple injuries after he was thrashed by his teacher (Guruji). 

The boy is currently under treatment at a hospital. 

As per information shared by officials of Alandi police station, they have lodged a case against the teacher identified as Bhagwan Pavhane who was arrested by them. 

Police officials said that the boy was assaulted by his teacher as he was not focusing on his studies. 

The incident came to light when the victim’s family reported the incident to the police. 

As the boy was unwell, Bhagwan told his parents to take him back to his home in Maval. 

When the boy’s uncle saw him in an unconscious state, he rushed the victim to a hospital in Talegaon Dabhade. 

After three days when the victim gained his senses, he narrated his ordeal to his uncle. 

Police Inspector Ravindra Chaudhar of Alandi police station is investigating the case.
