Robbers Fire 2 Rounds, Loot Jewellery In Kothrud Shop

PUNE: In a daring daylight robbery, two armed robbers looted ornaments weighing 1.5 kg, including 500-gm gold, from a jewellery shop in Kothrud on Sunday. The act was caught on CCTV and the police have launched a search for accused.
 
The incident took place between 4.08 pm and 4.40 pm at Pethe Jewellers in Anand Nagar, Kothrud. 

The police said the robbers entered the shop posing as customers. The CCTV footage shows that as soon as they entered, one of them pulled out a pistol and threatened the staff. When one of the staff tried to resist, the robber fired two rounds in the air. After that, the staff gave away all the ornaments. By the time the police reached, the robbers had fled. Senior officers also arrived and separate teams of local police station, Detection Branch and Crime Branch were dispatched to trace the robbers. 

Senior Police Inspector Pratibha Joshi, in-charge of Kothrud police station, said, “The process of registering an FIR is on. The robbers have looted about 500 grams gold ornaments besides gold plated imitation jewellery.”
