ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: Despite conducting five rounds of online applications for Diploma in Elementary Education admission, seats have remained vacant due to poor response from students and the Maharashtra State Council of Educational Research and Training (MSCERT) has schedule a sixth round of online applications from August 12 to 16.

MSCERT stated that this time, the selection of candidates will be on first come first serve basis. Over 40,000 seats are vacant till now out of a total of 60,233 seats. Of these, 9,648 seats from the government quota and around 3,500 seats from the management quota have been filled, said officials from the Director of Education’s office.

The official also said that students are refraining from taking up teaching because of low employment and meager pay. Students who have their documents and certificate approved at verification centres, but have not taken admissions yet are eligible to apply for this round.
