Rs 29.24 lakh stolen in the city

PUNE: An unidentified person stole a bag containing cash of Rs 29.24 lakh from a 61-year-old employee of a courier firm in Nanded, who had to come to Pune to deliver the cash to a Pune-based businessman. 

The Yerawada police said the complainant Vitthal Karjigikar reached Pune on Monday morning. He got down from a private bus and went to answer nature’s call at 6.30 am when the bus had stopped. Vitthal kept the bag containing the cash near a building and when he returned, he found the bag missing.  Vitthal told the police he had seen a youth who wearing a jacket near his bag and suspected the bag was stolen by him.
