Pimpri: With the help of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is in power in Pimpri-Chinchwad, the Rashtriya Swaymsevak Sangh (RSS) is trying to spread its wings in the city.

RSS has started organising events based on its Hindu nationalist agenda and it seems that continuous efforts of its swayamsevaks have borne fruit as for the first time, it is celebrating Shastra Puja at 19 places in twin township on the occasion of Vijaya Dashmi (Dussehra).

RSS is celebrating its 92nd foundation day and has played a vital role in bringing BJP to power in the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

Advocate Vilas Kasbe, District Pracharpramukh of RSS, said, “The number of active members of RSS has reached 40,000 to 50,000 in the city. Besides this, some organisations have been associated with RSS.  We are expecting that more people will participate in this year’s Vijaya Dashmi celebration.

“The RSS has started Samarth Bharat campaign throughout India. RSS is getting an overwhelming response from the people belonging to all walks of life. We are working towards inculcating nationalistic values among young generation,’’ he said.
