Sakal Times

Pune: There is no dearth of good Samaritans in society. On Monday, a woman security guard of Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple, Rupali Shede, found Rs 12,000 in the premises of Swami Samarth Temple, situated near Dagdusheth Halwai temple, Budhwar Peth.

Without giving a second thought, she immediately handed over the money to Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Mandir Trust. The trust then handed over the sum to Vishrambaug police
station.

This act of hers gained her appreciation from Basavraj Teli, Deputy Commissioner of Police.

Shede said, “I enquired with the nearby shop owners and devotees who had come to the temple, but none of them said they had lost their money. So, I finally handed over the money to Tanaji Shejwal, manager at the trust. I have been a security guard in the temple for last eight months.”

Shejwal, said, “On Monday, Shede gave us the money, which she found lying in the premises of Swami Samarth Temple. We handed over that money to Vishrambaug police station. On numerous occasions, we have witnessed incidents where devotees misplace their wallets or mobile phones. The security guards of our trust always submit misplaced items or money to the trust office, which we later hand over to the police if no one comes to claim it”.

Shrikant Shinde, Police Inspector (PI) of Vishrambaug police station, said, “On Tuesday, the trust handed over Rs 12,000 to the police station. The rightful owner is still not identified and no one has claimed
the money.”
