Several cases of mobile, gold chain theft reported during Ganpati immersion

Pune: Several cases of mobile thefts and chain snatching were reported at Vishrambaug and other police stations during immersion. 

According to Vishrambaug police, an unidentified person robbed three gold chains worth Rs 87,000 of Ashish Bhagwat and his two friends while they were passing Dagdusheth Mitra Mandal in Budhwar Peth on Tuesday evening. Pooja Tiwari lost her mobile and it was traced by the police. Fagir Shaikh from Mumbai was arrested in the case. Fagir also stole mobile phones of Abhishek Banate. 

Similarly, the police have arrested Bashir Shaikh (23) for stealing mobiles of Sushant Deshmukh, Praveen Barmanna, Valmiki Gaikwad and Satish Sharma during the immersion. 

The police said that Aparna Nayar, Vikas Deshmukh and Bhushan Deshpande were robbed of their gold chains. 

Amey Chavan told the police that an unidentified person stole his mobile worth Rs 5,000 while he was in a procession on Laxmi Road. Gangadhar Bagade (67) was robbed of his gold chain worth Rs 20,000 on Tuesday evening. The Faraskhana police have arrested Shaibaz Ali for stealing mobile phones in the immersion procession. Senior Police Inspector BG Ambure of Farashkhana police station said that 10 stolen mobile phones were recovered from Shaibaz.
