Pune: Following the case lodged by a Junnar-based man for boycotting him from his caste panchayat, members of Shia Isna Aashri Jamat (SIAJ) of Junnar have alleged that the man, Hamidul Hasan Mohammed Sayyed, has lodged a false case against them.

At a press conference on Thursday, members of SIAJ alleged that Hamidul was involved in forgery of the trust to the tune of Rs 46 lakh. On October 23, Hamidul was assisted by activists of Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti (MANS) and a case was lodged against members of SIAJ.

Sayyed Noor Abbaz Ejaj Hussain said the trust wanted to raise funds and so Hamidul and two others were handed responsibility of building shops and metal sheds. “Between November 2014 and November 2015 Hamidul was involved in fraud of Rs 46 lakh. He did not keep the audit details,” said Hussain. As per Hamidul’s complaint he was responsible for maintaining accounts of the trust for free. However, some members of the community started demanding accounts, which he was ready to show. But, none of them came to audit the accounts. “On May 9, 2016 and on next day, the members of the trust pasted a letter on the wall of a local mosque stating that I am being boycotted from the community. I have all audio-video recordings, letters, messages of being ill-treated by the community members,” added Hamidul.

Nandini Jadhav, District President of MANS said, “If Hamidul has done any financial misappropriations, let the police investigate it. But police should conduct proper investigation in the social boycott case.”  When Sakal Times contacted Police Inspector Kailash Ghodke of Junnar police station he said both parties were ready to lodge cross-complaints against each other and so they have taken the complaint.
