SOES, CSCs sign MoU for distance edu prog

Pune: Symbiosis Open Education Society (SOES) and Common Services Centres (CSCs) have signed an MoU to reach out to potential learners from remote areas for enrolling in short- and long-term distance learning programmes.

The organisations will work towards providing an array of educational and vocational skill courses to learners in rural and remote areas. Principal Director of SOES Swati Mujumdar and Chief Executive Officer of CSC e-Governance Services India Limited and the Ministry of Electronics and IT, Dinesh Tyagi were present to sign the agreement. 

CSC will also act as SOES admission facilitation centres and assist potential candidates to seek admission. It will also function as SOES examination centres. SOES and CSC Academy will offer short-term skill-based courses in blended learning format and hands-on industry training for rural youths. 

“We want to reach the unreached and provide them with access to quality education. CSCs will also provide basic services to them. It will help spread quality education and skill development programmes to the remotest parts.” said Mujumdar. 

Tyagi said more than 3.5 lakh CSCs will be leveraged to extend the reach of educational and vocational programmes.
