SPPU to offer eight free online courses

Pune: The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) will offer eight free online courses with a credit system to students and interested citizens. The courses will be available on the SWAYAM portal swayam.gov.in. The courses have been developed by Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMMRC). 

Candidates can avail the courses over two semesters. After completing the course, candidates can appear for an examination and will be granted a certificate and credit marks accordingly. The courses will be available online from August 5. 

Students will be able to take the lesson through video lectures as well as other study materials. Apart from this, every week students will be given assignments and quizzes to complete. 

“According to the University Grants Commission, 20 per cent of the syllabus should be learned from online courses. Therefore, students should avail this opportunity,” said Arvind Shaligram, In-charge Director of EMMRC.
