SPPU planning to offer MBA, Data Analytics courses online

ST CORRESPONDENT

PUNE: Taking a step ahead on digital education, now most of the universities will be imparting education online instead of only traditional classroom setups. Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) is also likely to offer MBA and Data Analytics courses through online mode from the academic year 2019-2020.

Last month, University Grants Commission (UGC) had invited higher educational institutes for recognition of courses/programmes to be offered in online mode from the academic session 2019-20 onwards.

This will be recognised under UGC (Online Courses or Programmes) Regulations, 2018.

“We are planning to start two online courses of MBA and Data Analytics. But we haven’t decided on whether a diploma or degree course in Data Analytics should be offered online. However, before starting these courses online, an e-syllabus of these will be produced. Besides, virtual classroom system will also be implemented,” said Vice-Chancellor, Nitin Karmalkar.

This will enable several students to complete their professional courses online. Moreover, number of students opting for higher education courses will also increase, stated educationists.
