SPPU senate polls: Pragati Panel emerges winner amongst mgmt representatives

Pune: While the counting for the registered graduates representatives would go on till late evening, The Pragati Panel has emerged winner amongst the management representatives at the Senate Election of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) on Monday.

Sandeep Kadam (Pune Jilha Shikshan Mandal) and Rajendra Vikhe-Patil (Pravara Gramin Shikshan Sanstha) of Pragati Panel won two of the seats, and with Sunetra Pawar winning the seat reserved for woman candidate unopposed, Pragati Panel grabbed three out of five seats of the management representatives.

Out of the six seats for the management representatives, elections were held only for four of them as the Pawar won unopposed, and one seat reserved for the Scheduled Tribe (ST) went vacant.

The contest was held between three panels, Pragati Panel, Ekta Panel, and the Vidyapith Vikas Panel that was supported by the Jaykar Group.
Somnath Patil (Dr DY Patil Vidya Pratishthan Society) of Ekta Panel was the only one to be declared winner right in the first round of counting, while Shyamkant Deshmukh (Progressive Education Society) emerged winner in the third round along with the other two.

The counting for the 10 seats of registered graduates is still on and is expected to be out late in the evening.
