SPPU to set up data centre for TDD

Sakal Times

Pune: The Department of Technology (DoT) of the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) will be setting up a data intelligence centre (intelligent dashboard) for the Tribal Development Department (TDD) to provide services of data analytics to TDD, which will help it in taking better development decisions. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding the same was signed by Aditya Abhyankar, Head of the Technology Department of SPPU, and Ramchandra Kulkarni, Commissioner of Tribal Research and Training Institute, at PUMBA auditorium in SPPU.

As per information shared by the project coordinator from Department of Technology, data about tribal development will be collated and then analysed. “Data analytics will be used to take decisions on budgeting of various government schemes for tribals. The funds allocated and utilised by the government for tribal schemes can be tracked and monitored at one point, which will help in improving efficiency in fund allocation,” added a project coordinator.

Under the digitisation programme, DoT will also help TDD in the conversion of text and image files in digital format. Officials of DoT said that the project will kickstart in few weeks and will be coordinated from DoT.
