Start-up incubation centre at SPPU inaugurated

Pune: The incubation centre established at the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) was recently inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Dr Nitin Karmalkar. The centre’s C-Bridge portal was also unveiled at the time. The incubation centre is one of the initiatives of the university to connect education with industry.

The SPPU is promoting the novel projects like Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Linkages so as to convert innovative ideas by the students into start-ups and industries.
 
“Today, incubation centre is the need of the hour. Through this, many new ideas can take the form of businesses,” Karmalkar said while speaking on the occasion.

The opportunities to participate in these projects will be given to individuals belonging to different groups, like, 1. Students and former students, 2. Professors in the university, 3. The organisations and companies associated with the university for different research and development projects, 4. Grassroots innovators, and 5. Already existing companies that wish to participate in the initiative.

Through this, selected proposals of innovative ideas will be provided with infrastructural services, resources and facilities needed to start the business and mentorship for 18 months. A few selected ones will also be given the initial capital.

At the inauguration, Karmalkar also unveiled the web portal iil.unipune.ac.in  
Dr NS Umrani, Pro-Chancellor, Dr Apoorva Palkar, Director, Incubation Centre, members of the Advisory Committee Dr Subhash Ghaisas, Dr Suresh Gosavi, Dr Avinash Kumbhar were also present on the occasion.
