Plastic sellers, manufacturers to keep shutters down

Pune: The Mumbai High Court on Monday issued a notice to the Maharashtra government over the plastic ban order. The government has to file its reply by April 9.

The notice was issued after a petition was filed by Maharashtra Plastic Manufacturing Association (MPMA) on March 23, against the plastic ban order.

Ravi Jashnani, President of MPMA, said, “Till the final order of the High Court, all the manufacturers and wholesalers of plastic of Maharashtra will be on a protest by keeping their shutters down.

There is excessive demand of plastic in the market, but since we have closed our shops we are not able to help meet the demand.”
The All India Plastic Manufacturing Association (AIPMA) and PET Container Manufacturing Association (PCMA) also filed similar petitions which were clubbed together in the MPMA petition.
