Many schools in the region lack functional science labs and digital learning tools, restricting students’ exposure to practical experiments and interactive learning. Girls are often disproportionately affected, facing additional social and systemic barriers to pursuing STEM studies.

The STEM on Wheels program brings fully equipped mobile labs directly to schools, offering curriculum-aligned experiments, introductory robotics and coding modules, interactive demonstrations, and sessions on STEM careers. In its first phase, the program will reach 12 schools and around 1,200 students.

The mobile lab offers:

• Curriculum-aligned hands-on science experiments

• Introductory robotics and coding modules

• Interactive demonstrations

• Facilitated learning sessions

• STEM career awareness interactions

Education experts say that early exposure to practical science and technology helps students develop curiosity, confidence, and ambition, influencing both academic choices and long-term career paths. By taking learning directly to students, the initiative seeks to bridge gaps in infrastructure and inspire a more inclusive future in STEM.

The program aligns with broader national priorities for scientific innovation and global goals such as Quality Education (SDG 4) and Gender Equality (SDG 5), emphasizing the importance of equitable access to STEM learning.
