Sakal Times

Pune: Janvani, on behalf of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), recently organised a documentary and poster exhibition for the students of the primary section of Muktangan English School.

The programme was conducted to create awareness about segregation and disposal of wet and dry garbage. The main purpose was to create a paradigm shift from waste as garbage to waste as a valuable resource.

The film screened at the event also showed how to convert organic waste into biogas, fertilisers and generation of electricity.

The students were told about the importance of eco-friendly Ganesh idols and their immersion with the help of sodium bicarbonate, and how it could be used as manure for plants.

Students enjoyed the technique of recycling of the dry garbage and the preparation of compost.

The Principal Utkarsha Keni motivated the students to understand the importance of applying this knowledge in their day to day life.
