Suspended edu director still in office: ABVP

Pune: Akhil Bharatiya Vidya Parishad (ABVP) has alleged that despite a suspension order issued by Education Minister Vinod Tawde against Director of Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) Dhanraj Mane, the officer has continued to serve in office.

The ABVP has demanded that the State government order a probe within two days and a complete suspension must be issued for Mane, failing which ABVP will stage an agitation against the State government.

“Mane was alleged involved in irregularities in recruitment at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU) in 2012-13, while he was the registrar there. Mane was registrar from 2011 to 15. Tawde suspended him for the same in April 2017. However, even two months after the suspension order, he is officiating as the State Director of DHE,” said Ram Satpute, President of ABVP.

“The government is trying to back Mane. This tells us about the sheer corruption in the education sector due to which several students are at a loss. We want the government to take strict action against him. If this does not happen, there will be a mass protest against the government across the city,” said Satpute.
