Sword-wielding youths vandalise autos in Nigdi

Pune: Around eight youngsters armed with swords created a ruckus in Ajanta Nagar area near Nigdi. They also damaged seven vehicles mostly autorickshaws on Saturday midnight. 

Nigdi police said that the cause behind the act was enmity between two friends. The youngsters had came to seek revenge following a petty dispute. 

Somnath Bharat Shinde (25), a resident of Ajantha Nagar lodged a complaint with Nigdi Police Station in this regard.

Police Inspector Shankar Awtade said two friends had fought over a petty issue on Saturday afternoon, following which one of them returned with eight others to vandalise the vehicles. The group was armed with choppers and other sharp-edged weapons. The mob fled when locals came out and raised an alarm to protect their property.
