Three girls forced into prostitution rescued

Pune: The social security cell (SSC) of Pune city police Crime Branch has busted a prostitution racket in Viman Nagar and rescued three girls who were forced into prostitution. The police have arrested one person while three others are absconding.

Acting on a tip-off received by Police Naik Sachin Kadam, a raid was conducted at Hotel Shri Krishna Inn in Sanjay Park, Viman Nagar, on Saturday night. The police have rescued three girls. Two of them are from Sikkim and one from New Delhi. They have been shifted to a shelter home in Hadapsar.

The arrested accused has been identified as Prashant Machhindra Patil (42) of Shahapur in Jalgaon district. His accomplices Karan Sharma, Yogi alias Monti Patel and Dinesh are absconding.

ASI Namdev Shelar from SSC has lodged an FIR against them with the Vimantal police station for offences under relevant sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act.
