PUNE: Three persons were cheated in three different cases by cyber fraudsters in the city.
According to the city police, a 32-year-old man was cheated of Rs 1.53 lakh while claiming a car Tata Safari worth Rs 12.5 lakh as a ‘prize’.
The fraudsters called up the victim and told him he had won a Tata Safari car, for which he was asked to pay Rs 1.53 lakh to claim the car.
The victim did as instructed, but failed to get the car. He then approached the Kondhwa police. Police Inspector M Kumbhar is investigating the case.
In the second case, a 44-year-old woman was planning to recharge her dish television subscription. She used a mobile wallet to pay Rs 500 for the recharge. However the money was not credited to her dish television account. Later, when she tried to contact the mobile wallet company, her bank details were phished by fraudsters to steal Rs 82,300 from her account. Police Inspector Salim Chaus of Wanawadi police station is investigating the case.
In the third case, a 28-year-old woman bought a saree worth Rs 9,600 through an online website from Karnataka. However, the saree was not delivered, so she approached the Bibvewadi police and lodged a case against the unidentified person. Police Inspector Kumar Ghadge of Bibvewadi police is investigating the case.
