Pune: The Pune railway division officers are spreading awareness about perils of trespassing on the tracks and penalising guilty persons. For this, the Railways has found eight black spots where most trespassing and mishaps occur. This problem is still a big challenge for Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Pune division. The newly appointed Divisional Security Commissioner Arun Tripathi has said that the RPF is focusing on stopping trespassing.

While speaking with Sakal Times, Divisional Security Commissioner Arun Tripathi said that his priority is to provide security to the passengers and to stop trespassing.

“The pedestrians do not use foot over bridges and they cross the tracks instead, due to which the runover incidents have increased. We have installed iron rods and painted them in black and have applied grease on those rods to stop the pedestrians from trespassing on tracks near Wadia College,” he said. The RPF is also working to stop unauthorised vendors on the trains. These vendors board the train when it departs from the platform.

“We are taking strict action against them, as this is also on our priority list. We are even taking action against passengers who pull the chain without reason. When passengers are late, they run and try to catch the train. In this, the passengers inside the coach pull the chain for them. If the passengers reach the station on time, this can be stopped,” said Tripathi.

The RPF has also asked the senior officials to provide more CCTV cameras. AT present, only 61 cameras are covering the entire station. Around 60 CCTV cameras need to be installed to cover the entire station as well as yards. “We are trying to get additional CCTV cameras soon,” added Tripathi.
