Two baby care kiosks set up at airport

Pune: Mothers travelling with infants can now easily feed their babies in the arrival and departure area at the Pune Airport. The airport authority set up two new baby care kiosks recently, while one already in the departure area, was set up with help from Gupte Hospital in June.

“We already have two baby feeding units, one in the security hold area and another in the departure 2. The two new kiosks were opened recently. At a time, two women can feed their babies. They can also change the diaper of the baby. We are also providing nappies for babies,” Pune Airport Director Ajay Kumar told Sakal Times.

At present, there are two baby care rooms. “The kiosk will be helpful for women who travel with their infants and need such rooms to take care of them all the time,” said Kumar.

The kiosk has a small tray-like bed, where the child can be placed to facilitate a change of nappy or clothes.

Manju Verma, a traveller, said it is a welcome step.

“The Pune airport is changing. The facilities provided by the authority are very good. They have also created more space. We can move easily. The baby care kiosks will be a great help to women like us,” she said.
