Two dead, two injured after bikes collide head-on on NIBM Road

Pune: Two persons died while two others were injured when their bikes collided head-on on Sunday at midnight on NIBM Road. 

The deceased were identified as Sanjiv Singh Jaswant Singh (24) and Prahlad Karnal Singh (40), both residing at Kumar Palms labour camp in Undri. Based on a complaint from Head Constable Suresh Bhapkar, an FIR was registered with Kondhwa police station against Rehan Rizwan Contractor (21) of Konarkpuram in Kondhwa. His friend Jiya Iqbal Habib (20) was injured in the accident. 

According to the police, the mishap took place near Kumar Palms labour camp on the road from NIBM Road to Kadnagar Chowk. Sanjiv and Prahlad were riding a Pulsar bike when Rehan and Jiya who were riding a KTM bike came from the opposite direction and hit their bike. 

Some passers-by informed the police, who called an ambulance and rushed them to Sassoon Hospital. Sanjiv and Pralhad were declared dead on arrival. They were natives of Jammu & Kashmir and worked as security guards here. 

The police have booked Rehan for various offences including causing death due to negligence, rash driving under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Rehan has appeared for the Std XII board exam, while Jiya studied in First Year Bcom. Both are admitted to the hospital and their condition is also serious, the police said.
