PUNE: The Cyber Crime Cell of Pune police has nabbed two persons, including a minor boy, for allegedly sharing fake videos that coronavirus spreads through chicken and eggs. The poultry business has suffered losses of over Rs 650 crore so far. 

The 16-year-old boy is from Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh, while the second person is from Andhra Pradesh. They had uploaded videos on YouTube. 

After getting a complaint from the Animal Husbandry Department, a team under the supervision of DCP Sambhaji Kadam tracked both of them down. 

Police said the minor is a student and uploaded 60 videos on his YouTube channel. About a month ago, he got a video linking chicken with coronavirus and uploaded it without verifying its credentials.

Similarly, a video was uploaded by one Mohammad Abdul Sattar of Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh. 

Joint CP Ravindra Shisve said, “There is no scientific evidence showing any connection between chicken and coronavirus. People should refrain from sharing fake messages and videos as it has badly affected the poultry business.”

The investigation team included Senior Police Inspector Jairam Paigude, PSI Anil Dafal, and policemen Ajit Kurhe, Harshal Dusane, and Prasad Potdar.
