PUNE: Two persons, including a 70-year-old woman, were injured after an old dilapidated residential structure collapsed at Budhwar Peth on Sunday morning.

The mishap took place around 7.15 am when nearly 75 per cent portion of the  Singhaniya wada, which is about 100 years old, collapsed. The three-storied wada was located  near Dagdusheth Temple at 172, Budhwar Peth.

The injured persons - Gangubai Narayan Kalyani (70) and Vinayak Narayan Kalyani (48) - were pulled out of the debris and rushed to a hospital. Except for the two victims, no one else was residing in the wada.

Fire Brigade Officer Pradeep Khedekar said, “A team was rushed to the spot as soon as we got a call. Two members of a family living on the first floor were trapped under the debris. We pulled them out successfully.”

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) later pulled down the dilapidated wada.
