VPNBVM KG students set up vegetable garden

ST CORRESPONDENT

PUNE: Students of LKG and HKG participated in gardening activity at Vidya Pratishthan’s New Bal Vikas Mandir (VPNBVM), Pimpli (Baramati). A vegetable garden was set up by students of the pre-primary section.

The students planted vegetables such as brinjal, chilli, fenugreek and onion in the school premises. The gardener had prepared beds for the vegetables, while the children learnt how to plant the vegetables. They also enjoyed sprinkling the fenugreek seeds.  The vegetable garden patch is located between the classrooms and the dining hall, so that the children can observe their vegetables grow as they walk to the dining hall and back to the classrooms. They can also water the vegetables on their way and see them grow day-by-day. The teachers have named this garden plot as ‘My Veggie Garden’.

This green initiative was taken by the in-charge of the pre-primary section Manjusha Mokashi, under the guidance of Principal KA Barawkar. This initiative will go a long way in helping the children bond strongly with nature.
