Water logging at RTO causes inconvenience

ST CORRESPONDENT

PUNE: People visiting the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) have been irked with the inconvenience caused due to water logging at the RTO premises.

Sources said that the heavy rains experienced by Pune city on Monday resulted in water logging at the RTO which disrupted the normal functioning.

They added that even on Tuesday, the problems continued as the work of clearing the accumulated water was going on.

“Applicants, especially in the learning licence area, faced a lot of inconvenience even on Tuesday as water remained accumulated. It was cleared by afternoon. To help the applicants, the work of learning licence department was shifted to the first floor,” said sources from the RTO.

Senior officials at the RTO informed that to address such issues there is a plan to undertake renovation at the RTO.

“The plan is in a preliminary stage. Considering the growing workload at the RTO, we need to add one more floor. The parking space will also be renovated and the problems like the recent water logging will also be addressed, once the renovation is done,” said the officials.

With heavy water logging on Monday, over 300 learning licence applicants who had visited the RTO for appearing for their test had to go home. “It was just not possible to give any test due to the water logging at RTO,” said an applicant.
