Wedding theft: 920 gram stolen gold ornaments recovered from couple

Pune: A couple from Chandan Nagar has been arrested by the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Pune rural police, who used to steal ornaments from wedding venues. Police claimed to have solved 17 cases and recovered 920 gram gold ornaments, Rs five lakh cash, 10 phones and a car, totally worth Rs 37 lakh. 

The accused persons have been identified as Vilas Mohan Dagade (28), a native of Solapur and his wife Jaishree (25). They had targeted wedding venues in Loni Kalbhor, Talegaon Dhamdhere, Saswad, Kedgaon, Uruli Devachi, Wagholi and other areas.

Superintendent of Police (Pune rural) Sandip Patil on Thursday told reporters that the there were 17 theft cases in the last eight months. “The accused persons used to be well dressed so that nobody suspects them. Based on CCTV footages, our team zeroed on them,” he added. 

A team led by Police Inspector Padmakar Ghanvat nabbed the couple at Samrudhi Lawns in Yavat.
