Woman booked for killing her two sons

Pune: A 28-year-old woman was booked by the Talegaon police for allegedly killing her two sons while she was attempting suicide along with them by jumping into the Indrayani river on Tuesday morning. 

As per the Talegaon police, the accused Shakuntala Kevat had a verbal brawl with her husband on Monday night as she had not prepared dinner. On Tuesday morning, Shakuntala took both her sons Aman (4) and Amar (2) and took a leap into the Indrayani river from Aambi bridge. The locals present at the spot got alerted and were successful in rescuing Shakuntala but could not save the two children who died due to drowning.

Following the incident a case of murder was lodged against Shakuntala. Talegaon police are investigating the case. Assistant Police Inspector Sadhana Patil, who is investigating the case, said the woman was sent to judicial custody in the case.
