Woman burnt to death in a road accident

PUNE:  A 22-year-old woman was burnt to death after her two-wheeler was hit by a speeding car in Kharadi on Wednesday midnight. The car driver was drunk, the police said.
 
The deceased was identified as Shraddha Madhukar Bangar, a resident of Chandan Nagar. 

The police have arrested Manish Chaudhari (37) of Pashan, who works with a private company in a senior position. As per the FIR registered with Chandan Nagar police station, the accident took place opposite City Vista in Kharadi. Shraddha was riding the two-wheeler when Chaudhari’s car hit her from behind.
 
“The Scooty skid and there was petrol leakage which caught fire. She sustained severe burn injuries and was rushed to a hospital. She succumbed to her injuries. The accused was drunk as has been proved by a medical report. He was produced before a court which remanded him in judicial custody. The accused is an engineer with a private company,” said Senior Police Inspector Shankar Khatke, in-charge of the police station.
