Woman duped of Rs 3 lakh

Pune: A 32-year-old teacher was allegedly duped of Rs 3 lakh by fraudsters under the pretext of releasing a gift from the United Kingdom (UK) seized by the customs department. The Yerawada police station has lodged an FIR against four persons including a woman for cheating the teacher. 

According to the police, the incident took place between September 2016 and January 2017. She had accepted the friend request on Facebook from fraudsters and began chatting with them. After that, the accused person said that a gift has been sent and later other accused contacted the teacher saying Rs 27,000 and penalty has to be paid as gold has been found in the gift parcel. 

The complainant transferred the amount but did not get the gift parcel. After realising that she had been duped, she lodged a complaint against Ashfaq Khan, Amar Singh, Amina Khan and one more person.
