Woman gang-raped in car

Pune: A 34-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped on Friday night in Shindavane Ghat area by two persons in a car after she asked them for a lift. 

As per the complaint filed by the victim at Loni Kalbhor police station, she was returning from a temple in Narayanpur when the incident took place. The victim stays in Kedgaon Choufula and was waiting at Waghapur Choufula when the two accused persons stopped their car to give her a lift. 

According to information given by Pune rural police, the woman took a lift in the SUV at around 10 pm. The two persons in this vehicle allegedly raped her in the vehicle in Shindavane Ghat area and then left her at the spot.

The woman told the police that she managed to get the number of this SUV with the help of two motorcyclists passing through Shindavane Ghat. The woman then approached the Loni Kalbhor police station and lodged a First Information Report (FIR).

Officials of the Loni Kalbhor police station have lodged a case against two persons under Section 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 376(d) (gang rape), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 34 (common intention). Officials of the Pune rural police informed that the car of the accused is from Pimpri Chinchwad and police officials are in the process of nabbing the accused involved in the crime.

Police said that the victim was taken to hospital on Saturday for her medical test.

Assistant Police Inspector Ranjitsingh Pardeshi of Loni Kalbhor police station is investigating the case.

Senior police officials of Pune rural police visited the crime spot on Saturday.
